Playing Cards: Reshuffled

These holiday client gifts were designed, printed and delivered at a sprint pace. The creative direction, playing off the Waltz identity, was “every move matters.” Custom pattern work and graphics were created to replicate the footwork of traditional dance steps while expanding the Waltz visual identity and graphic language.

MiaDonna Active Lifestyle

As a leader in lab-grown diamonds, MiaDonna is not your typical jeweler. The same should be said of their marketing. We targeted an audience that is diverse, busy and workout-focused, which required a photoshoot to create new assets. Shoot responsibilities included product procurement, model selection, wardrobe, styling, shot lists, and photographer selection. I loved working on this project.

Lookout Health: Inclusive, Proactive and Navigating Wellness

GDUSA Magazine 2023 Health & Wellness Design Awards Winner

Lookout Health offers convenient and efficient on-site wellness. They offer testing programs customized to their clients' specific needs and delivered with the highest level of professionalism and reliability. The company is dedicated to providing evolved and accessible healthcare when and wherever needed. I saw a strong need and opportunity for an approachable visual story and graphic implementation through a marketing campaign. While one main objective was to promote mobile flu and vaccination clinics, the campaign also served to elevate brand visibility and nurture B2B leads in anticipation of the Compass™ program.

The team and I developed a campaign look and feel that integrated their corporate brand with an enhanced visual language that promoted consistency, a unified voice and a better suited design and marketing aesthetic for their audience and positioning objectives. We developed a refined color system, graphic usage, iconography, illustration styles and photo treatment. In addition to new elevated visual language and design direction, we built the campaign schedule, messaging and CTAs. The creative campaign was crafted through strategy, copywriting, design, code and deployment of each email according to the campaign timeline, accompanied by custom social media graphics.

Deliverables and development include printed marketing collateral, leave behinds, digital sales deck and sales sheet, email compaign, social media graphics, UX/UI planning, website and online employee portal system. All empowering employers, administrators and community. The portal allowed those to schedule appointments, order services, access test results, make payments and oversee the own healthcare information.

Syngenta Flowers Leans 90's Grunge

California Spring Trials (CAST) is Syngenta Flowers’ biggest trade show of the year, held in the Spring.

At Waltz Creative, I was responsible for building out concepts for the event theme and identity, art direction, visual language and graphic system. The event identity blossomed into approximately 40 deliverables including event displays, outdoor and digital signage, print collateral, merch and apparel.

My concept was built from Lollapalooza which was suggested by the client themselves — aka Pansypalooza. Then, falling down a musical rabbit hole (which lead into new Spotify playlists), I crafted multiple directions inspired by headliners, tracks and lyrics. The winning direction was driven by Nirvana’s In Bloom. The Lollapalooza event graphics, headliners, 90’s fashion, grit and graphic grunge were nostalgic to me, but also the leading sentiment of the event theme. The concept “In Bloom” was executed with a core need to look and feel bold, abstract, graphic and grungy. Motivated by stage art display, living installations, wayfinding and poster possibilities, I worked with the Designer and Art Director to establish a consistent look which would then span across a library of flower illustrations. Peace, Love and Give A Damn!

Housing Matters is a non-profit in Santa Cruz, CA. They use the “Housing First” approach to resolve homelessness in their county, an evidence-based approach that starts with helping people move into stable housing with no preconditions or barriers to entry.

In addition to Phase 1’s discovery session and communications strategy, I also directed Phase 2: an annual end of year campaign that is crucial for fund-raising. In 2022, I collaboratively positioned key messages, voice, audience, tone and execution expectations to support the development, strategy and campaign style. Along with the design director, I worked on concepts, directed the moodboards, and wrote and presented the pitch deck.

Peace, Love and Give a Damn! broke through traditional holiday themes, shook people up, and demanded attention while respecting the community and houseless individuals in the Santa Cruz area.

MiaDonna Diamonds

In-house direction and design work spans visual identity to style guide, print look books and sizing education to website banners, Facebook Instant Experience, digital assets, holiday campaigns, conception, direction and coordination of photoshoots, email marketing template and various social assets.

Photoshoot work includes model selects, shot coordination, wardrobe and styling on set to deliver eCommerce assets, branding and advertising needs.

Waltz Creative Brand & Marketing

Every brand moves. Even brands that shape brands, like Waltz Creative. I directed a team of designers to elevate and refine the visual integrity of this creative shop. This included visual design and brand identity systems, email marketing and copywriting, social and strategy, UX/UI, digital campaign planning, illustration, color refinement and pattern buildouts. The brand guidelines were developed, tested and refined. Vibrant pattern work and energetic color flourished and evolved, and the Waltz story became bigger and tighter. Graphic assets were expanded into a symphony of shape, form and system.

We dove into a design and UX overhaul to best present the portfolio, services and capabilities in a simple and direct fashion. After a long journey, that site is live here.

Cora XDR Rebrand

Cora XDR is "the flower with the power". This Syngenta genetics series is one of the strongest products in the market.

At Waltz Creative, I was responsible for leading the rebrand for Syngenta Flowers North America. As Syngenta markets to breeders, growers, retailers and end consumers, the creative direction task was to ultimately focus on a consumer-facing identity. The flourishing quality of Cora was embraced through a Kaleidescope design concept. I wrote concept statements, led and directed designers to execute creative options that would grow from a powerful identity to a design system that includes deliverables like point of sale banners, tags, displays, catalog, digital and more. I strategized colorways for a specific consumer audience and planned carefully for a creative facelift. I wrote taglines like "The flower with the power.", "Mother nature just got stronger." and "Plant her once and she'll grow the garden."

Perkins & Co.

I was hired for a recruiting campaign with Perkins & Co., a PDX accounting firm. I built and coordinated the shot lists, prop list, then art directed a full-day shoot with photographer Stu Mullenberg. I used these images to build and design collateral material and a set of ads for their fall season. The photo shoot was intended to eliminate stock photography, capture the authentic and comfortable working environment, as well as the cool and casual employees for their recruiting objectives.

Wacom is the the leading manufacturer of pen tablets, interactive pen displays and digital interface solutions. The brand unites people and technology through natural and intuitive interface technologies. From Latin American multi-media campaigns to new product brochures, I've had a chance to improve my pen tablet skills.

Outdoor

Working for an outdoor advertising agency that valued creative allowed me to work closely with clients. I also learned to devise copy lines for "billboard speak" honing the medium to effectively speak to consumers. This position also provided ample opportunity to polish and develop my skills as a production designer, graphic designer and art director.

In-Store Packaging

HEAD packaging design for Costco displays. I sourced images, retouched photos, produced color, design and layout. I directed color and textures, set up production files.

The kiipr is a safe and friendly place for your cigarette butts. When an ashtray is not in sight, put your cigarette butts inside the kiipr pouch and dispose later. These are sold in Pacific Northwest retail stores.

Tillamook photographic mockups were produced for Flint Design Co. Others include Tillamook Shredded, Tillamook Loaves, Tillamook Slices, Tillamook Snacks, Tillamook Yogurt, Tillamook Ice Cream, Tillamook Sour Cream, Nancy's Yogurt, Nancy's Cottage Cheese, Nancy's Sour Cream, and Kona Brewing Co.

For Alden’s Organic Ice Cream, I designed marketing collateral that spanned print ads to events assets to vehicle wraps to $1 coupons. I created text lockups and organized brand assets to work within a cohesive design system.

When I was working at HMH on Western Star, I was a client-facing lead art director and designer on a $120k budget for Western Star’s print media and brand guidelines (Daimler). We focused on the new products for the future of transportation and redirecting creative into a more sophisticated design sensibility to elevate and modernize the brand. We worked to align design style with the all-new introduction of the 49X truck to be revealed on all media formats. I worked independently and in partnership with CDs and senior copywriter.

The kangaroo illustrator, Sheryl Murray, approached me to set up the design files for this project. I directed the client with color and type choices and designed the word mark. kiipr pouches are now sold in Pacific Northwest retail stores.

Hazy Dell Press publishes quirky, grown-up-friendly children's books that promote empathy, inclusivity and imagination. Whether you’re a parent or not, you’ll be sure to enjoy their colorful illustrations and copywriting. From print pre-press to digital mockups and catalogs to social and digital assets to holographic stickers to product displays to type setting to cover layouts and color studies, I’ve worked with HDP to support their imaginative journey of bringing an array of books to market. Books sold online and in-store retail.

Mud Puddle Label Redesign

I was tasked with redesigning New Deal Distillery's Mud Puddle Bitter Chocolate Vodka label to improve legibility, elevate the design and incorporate a foil finish. If you've never drank the stuff, try the Muddy Puddle:

• 2 oz Mud Puddle Bitter Chocolate Vodka
• 1 1/2 oz Kahlua
• 3 oz. Half & Half
• 1 drop Regan’s Orange Bitters (optional)

Pour Mud Puddle, Kahlua and Half & Half over ice in a rocks glass, stir, add orange bitters (if using) and stir again. No garnish is called for -- just sip at your leisure and smile. 

New Deal Distillery is located in SE Portland on Distillery Row.
